                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Texas City mayor Charles T. "Chuck" Doyle has
 1-2     announced his plan to step down at the conclusion of his present
 1-3     term, and this decision heralds the completion of a highly
 1-4     successful and productive period in office; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Mayor Doyle was first elected by his fellow citizens
 1-6     in 1990, and during his tenure he has developed numerous projects
 1-7     designed to enhance the quality of life in Texas City by
 1-8     establishing new parks, building hiking and biking trails, and
 1-9     leading volunteer efforts to plant trees and bushes at gateway
1-10     entrances; and
1-11           WHEREAS, This noteworthy gentleman has also worked to
1-12     diversify the economy of this city of 42,000 residents, attracting
1-13     new employers and businesses to the area; his leadership has led to
1-14     unprecedented private contributions for city improvement projects,
1-15     as some $13 million has been raised during his 10 years in office;
1-16     and
1-17           WHEREAS, A banker by profession, he is the chairman of the
1-18     board and chief executive officer of Texas First Banks, and his
1-19     business acumen has earned him the respect and admiration of many
1-20     of his fellow citizens; he has been presented with a number of
1-21     honors for his civic service, including the Man of Vision Award
1-22     from the Society to Prevent Blindness and the Galveston County
1-23     Citizen of the Year award from the Galveston County News; and
1-24           WHEREAS, Throughout his many endeavors, Mayor Doyle has
 2-1     received love and support from his wife, Mary Ellen Hipp Doyle, and
 2-2     his children, Matt, David, Denise, Pat, and Chris, and although his
 2-3     strong guidance as mayor will be missed by all, his legacy of
 2-4     excellence will ensure that he is not soon forgotten; now,
 2-5     therefore, be it
 2-6           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
 2-7     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the Honorable Charles T. "Chuck"
 2-8     Doyle and commend him for his exemplary decade of service as mayor
 2-9     of Texas City; and, be it further
2-10           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-11     prepared for Mayor Doyle as an expression of high regard by the
2-12     Texas House of Representatives.
