No. 905 76R14509 JHS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, With the passing of Orangefield's Wade Granger on 1-2 April 6, 1999, the Lone Star State has lost a distinguished son, 1-3 for his many contributions to his fellow citizens were both unique 1-4 and beneficial; and 1-5 WHEREAS, An Orangefield native, Mr. Granger was born on 1-6 August 20, 1929; following a gubernatorial appointment, he served 1-7 for many years as an Official Crawfish Race Commissioner of Texas, 1-8 lending his expertise and objectivity to numerous "mudbug" 1-9 festivals during his lifetime, though his title was never 1-10 formalized by resolution; and 1-11 WHEREAS, This noteworthy individual helped found the 1-12 Orangefield Crawfish Festival and was an active supporter of the 1-13 Bridge City Crawfish Festival, which raised money for a much-needed 1-14 community center; his wealth of experience commanded great respect 1-15 among his peers, and he will be missed by all who knew him; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Mr. Granger is survived by his wife, Charlene; his 1-17 daughters, Kathy Granger, Donna Hebert, Janet Guillory, and Karen 1-18 Heise; his sons, Tim, Dennis, Greg, Terry, and Daryl Granger and 1-19 Michael Hale; his brothers, Thomas "Tick" Granger and Robert 1-20 Granger; his sister, Irma Jean Bell; and his 21 grandchildren and 1-21 three great-grandchildren; now, therefore, be it 1-22 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 1-23 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Wade Granger and 1-24 posthumously recognize him as an Official Crawfish Race 2-1 Commissioner of Texas; and, be it further 2-2 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-3 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-4 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-5 Wade Granger.
