No. 907 76R15259 BE-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives takes great pride 1-2 in recognizing the achievements of the sophomore class at Aubrey 1-3 High School, many of whom are present in the chamber today, for 1-4 their TAAS test scores indicate a mastery of educational material 1-5 that indeed merits special legislative recognition; and 1-6 WHEREAS, In February 1999, the Aubrey 10th graders completed 1-7 the exit-level Texas Assessment of Academic Skills (TAAS) exam; 1-8 throughout months of preparation, the students drilled and took 1-9 practice tests with their instructors to hone and strengthen their 1-10 individual performance; and 1-11 WHEREAS, The diligence of students and teachers alike has 1-12 been rewarded handsomely, for preliminary results indicate scores 1-13 of 98 percent in math, 98 percent in reading, and 97 percent in 1-14 writing; the tradition of academic excellence at Aubrey High School 1-15 is long-standing, one that has been carried forward to the 1-16 students' new high school campus that opened in March; and 1-17 WHEREAS, In addition to the flags of Texas and the United 1-18 States, the flag signifying the school's new "Exemplary" status 1-19 from the Texas Education Agency will now fly over Aubrey High 1-20 School as a testament to the outstanding results achieved by the 1-21 Class of 2001, and it is a great honor to salute these successful 1-22 young scholars at this time; now, therefore, be it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 1-24 Legislature hereby welcome the students and staff of Aubrey High 2-1 School to the State Capitol, commend them for their exceptional 2-2 success on the 1999 TAAS exam, and extend to all those associated 2-3 with this remarkable school warmest best wishes for continued 2-4 success; and, be it further 2-5 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-6 prepared for the faculty, staff, and students of Aubrey High School 2-7 as an expression of highest regard by the Texas House of 2-8 Representatives.
