                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The wedding anniversary of two outstanding Texans
 1-2     who have shared 50 happy and rewarding years of marriage is indeed
 1-3     cause for celebration, and on June 11, 1999, Ray and Betty Sager of
 1-4     Houston will observe this significant milestone; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, United in matrimony on June 11, 1949, at the House
 1-6     of Weddings in Houston, this devoted couple spent their wedding
 1-7     night at the Shamrock Hotel in Houston before continuing their
 1-8     honeymoon in Colorado; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Born in Pilot Point, Mrs. Sager moved in her youth
1-10     to Houston with her parents, and it was there that she graduated
1-11     from high school and business college; at the time of her marriage
1-12     she was employed as a steno-clerk for the Minneapolis and St. Louis
1-13     Railroad, and she later worked for Sears, Roebuck and Co. before
1-14     retiring as lead sales coordinator in 1987; and
1-15           WHEREAS, Mr. Sager is a native of San Antonio, where he
1-16     graduated from high school and college; before moving to Houston in
1-17     1945, this patriotic man served his country in the South Pacific as
1-18     a member of the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II; when he
1-19     met his future wife, Mr. Sager was working as the city freight
1-20     agent for the Kansas City Southern Railway, and at the time of his
1-21     retirement in 1984, he was working for the same company as a sales
1-22     manager; and
1-23           WHEREAS, The Sagers have raised a fine family of two
1-24     children, Vickie Lynn and Michael Ray, and they remain active in
 2-1     their community today as volunteers for the hospital, their church,
 2-2     and various civic clubs, and as members of the citizen's patrol,
 2-3     the flower club, and the bridge club; and
 2-4           WHEREAS, For half a century, Ray and Betty Sager have shared
 2-5     a warm and affectionate relationship filled with many happy times
 2-6     and cherished family memories, and it is truly fitting that they be
 2-7     recognized at this time; now, therefore, be it
 2-8           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
 2-9     Legislature hereby honor Ray and Betty Sager on their 50th wedding
2-10     anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for happiness in
2-11     the years to come; and, be it further
2-12           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-13     prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Sager as an expression of high regard by
2-14     the Texas House of Representatives.
