R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives takes special 1-2 pride in honoring Stefani Slough for her commendable achievements 1-3 and for the recognition she has received as Miss Texas Panhandle; 1-4 and 1-5 WHEREAS, This vibrant 17-year-old distinguished herself among 1-6 an impressive field of candidates in the Miss Texas Panhandle 1-7 Pageant, and in doing so she earned the pageant crown and an 1-8 opportunity to compete at the Miss Texas Pageant; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Miss Slough was previously recognized as fourth 1-10 runner-up in the Miss San Angelo Pageant and first runner-up in the 1-11 Miss Abilene Pageant, and these accomplishments earned her the 1-12 right to compete in the Miss Texas Panhandle Pageant; and 1-13 WHEREAS, This talented young lady began competing in pageants 1-14 when she was a junior in high school, and it was during this time 1-15 that she won first runner-up in the West Texas Junior Miss Pageant; 1-16 and 1-17 WHEREAS, Miss Slough is a senior at Abilene High School and a 1-18 member of the Peers Assistance and Leadership Skills (PALS) 1-19 program, Student Council, Tri-Hi-Y Club, Senior Girls, and Senior 1-20 Senate; in addition to these activities, she leads the crowds at 1-21 athletic events as a varsity cheerleader, and she is an 1-22 accomplished pianist; and 1-23 WHEREAS, After graduation from Abilene High School, Miss 1-24 Slough plans to attend West Texas A&M University to study music 2-1 education, with an emphasis on piano performance, and in the future 2-2 she hopes to share her love of music with young children as an 2-3 elementary school choir teacher and a piano instructor; and 2-4 WHEREAS, The poise and grace Miss Slough displayed in her 2-5 pursuit of the Miss Texas Panhandle title will undoubtedly serve 2-6 her well throughout her life, and her future accomplishments will 2-7 be a tremendous asset to the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it 2-8 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-9 Legislature hereby commend Stefani Slough for being awarded the 2-10 title of Miss Texas Panhandle and extend to her best wishes for 2-11 success in the Miss Texas Pageant and in all of her future 2-12 endeavors; and, be it further 2-13 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-14 prepared for Miss Slough as a token of high regard by the Texas 2-15 House of Representatives.
