No. 921 76R15347 JBR-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Jon Dee May on August 9, 1998, at the 1-2 age of 31, brought a great loss to the family, friends, and 1-3 community of this esteemed gentleman; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Mr. May was born on February 2, 1967, to Roy and 1-5 Janice May; he attended McNeese State University in Lake Charles 1-6 after graduating from Jasper High School in 1985; and 1-7 WHEREAS, The father of six-year-old Chelsea May, and a noted 1-8 radio personality, Mr. May was vice president and general manager 1-9 of KULF radio in Brenham; he also served as president of Washington 1-10 County Crimestoppers; and 1-11 WHEREAS, His play-by-play radio broadcasts of area high 1-12 school sports won him acclaim in numerous communities, including 1-13 Brenham, Bellville, Sealy, Somerville, Hempstead, Waller, and 1-14 Caldwell, and Mr. May was recognized for his inaugural broadcasts 1-15 of the newly formed Brenham Cubettes softball team; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Mr. May received accolades from a variety of 1-17 organizations, including the Dallas Press Club, which recognized 1-18 his on-the-spot news coverage of major events in the KULF broadcast 1-19 coverage area; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Those who were privileged to share the friendship 1-21 and love of Jon Dee May will long miss his presence and guidance, 1-22 and he will be remembered with great affection and admiration for 1-23 years to come; now, therefore, be it 1-24 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-1 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jon Dee May and 2-2 extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family and to the 2-3 many friends of this respected gentleman; and, be it further 2-4 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-5 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of 2-6 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jon Dee 2-7 May.
