                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Ann Marie Graham's scholastic and personal
 1-2     accomplishments exemplify the determination of this fine young
 1-3     Texan, and she is indeed deserving of special recognition; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, A freshman at Wylie High School in Abilene, Miss
 1-5     Graham is a straight A student who is well regarded by students and
 1-6     teachers alike for her hard work and dedication and for her success
 1-7     as an author, publisher, and speaker; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, At the age of 10, Miss Graham wrote her first book,
 1-9     The Adventures of Snowball & Starlight; she then founded a
1-10     publishing company, "Kids Can Do It" (KCDI), which published her
1-11     second book, Cody & Kyle: Big Heroes!, a book that has sold more
1-12     than 800 copies; and
1-13           WHEREAS, Running a publishing company is no easy task, and
1-14     Miss Graham rises to the occasion as she covers the duties of copy
1-15     editing, designing the cover, and finding an illustrator; she has
1-16     published The Adventure of Darla the Dolphin, by Jessica Lane, and
1-17     Thankful for Jesus with Love, a collection of short stories; and
1-18           WHEREAS, In addition to her schoolwork, writing, and
1-19     publishing, Miss Graham travels throughout the country as a
1-20     motivational speaker for young people and has had articles
1-21     published in nine newspapers nationwide; her third book, Kids,
1-22     Write a Book or Just Have Fun With Writing! is due out in August
1-23     and encourages students to explore the world of writing; and
1-24           WHEREAS, Miss Graham has had the privilege of interviewing
 2-1     some influential people, including former President Jimmy Carter
 2-2     and Governor George W. Bush, and her energy, enthusiasm, and
 2-3     determination typify the finest qualities of our state's youth;
 2-4     now, therefore, be it
 2-5           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
 2-6     Legislature hereby commend Ann Marie Graham for her accomplishments
 2-7     as a student, author, publisher, and speaker, and extend to her
 2-8     sincere best wishes for success and happiness in the future; and,
 2-9     be it further
2-10           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-11     prepared for Miss Graham as an expression of high regard by the
2-12     Texas House of Representatives.
