R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States (VFW)
 1-2     will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 1999, and the Texas House
 1-3     of Representatives takes great pride in joining the commemoration
 1-4     of this solemn and historic milestone as VFW posts around the
 1-5     nation observe the anniversary with the reflection and respect the
 1-6     occasion deserves; and
 1-7           WHEREAS, The members of VFW Post 9186 in San Antonio will
 1-8     honor this grand event by remembering their fallen comrades,
 1-9     ensuring that the many sacrifices and contributions made by these
1-10     brave soldiers who have gone will not be forgotten; and
1-11           WHEREAS, More than 40 veterans of Post 9186 have died since
1-12     1997; these men who with fortitude, courage, and success met the
1-13     challenge of service in the United States armed forces include:
1-14     Louis G. Cortez, Leopoldo Cruz, Jr., Eugene C. Greenwood, Gustavo
1-15     C.  Flores, Raul Pena,  Antonio V. Puente, Jacob T. Sawyer, Tomas
1-16     T. Maldonado, and Rafael Morales; and
1-17           WHEREAS, Also serving nobly were John R. Guarnero, Edward T.
1-18     Salas, Arnold Puente, William Gonzalez, Juan P. Avila, Mike
1-19     Machado, Luz Salinas, Anacleto T. De La Cruz, Pablo I. Hernandez,
1-20     Manuel L. Flores, Pedro N. Garza, Andres Hernandez, Raymond
1-21     Aguilar, and Gumesindo Diaz; and
1-22           WHEREAS, In addition,  Adolph B. Cruz, Fred T. Borrego, Jose
1-23     A. Rosel, Raul Dominguez, Jesus D. Torres, Richard Espino, David V.
1-24     Botello, Raul Mauricio, Manuel H.  Robles, Jose R. Rodriguez,
 2-1     Ernest Quiroga, Elias Coronado, Steve J. Morin, Jose S. Uresti,
 2-2     Alfonso Chapa, Pete Perez, Ernesto Martines, Daniel Sanchez,
 2-3     Eluterio Guajardo, Tony Lozano, Oscar Van, Lorenzo Covarrubias, and
 2-4     Homero De La Garza served their country with distinction; and
 2-5           WHEREAS, Each of these men demonstrated exemplary valor and
 2-6     patriotism, and they serve as an inspiration for both their fellow
 2-7     soldiers and the civilian public they protected; as their friends
 2-8     and families unite in remembrance, it is a great and moving honor
 2-9     to join in recognizing these soldiers at this time; now, therefore,
2-10     be it
2-11           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
2-12     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the departed members of VFW Post
2-13     9186, for they are owed a great debt and our deepest gratitude, and
2-14     that warmest best wishes be extended to all the members of Post
2-15     9186 on the 100th anniversary of the VFW.
