                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Dr. Anthony Constanzo of San Antonio has achieved
 1-2     outstanding success as superintendent of the East Central
 1-3     Independent School District, and his notable achievements in this
 1-4     demanding role are indeed worthy of special recognition; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Since accepting the position of superintendent in
 1-6     1982, Dr.  Constanzo has consistently devoted himself to creating
 1-7     an ideal learning environment for the students in his district, and
 1-8     his efforts have been rewarded with the accreditation of all of the
 1-9     district's schools by the Southern Association of Colleges and
1-10     Schools and the Texas Education Agency; and
1-11           WHEREAS, Under his visionary leadership, the district has
1-12     experienced significant growth; two new schools, Harmony Elementary
1-13     and Heritage Intermediate, have been constructed and an additional
1-14     campus recently won voter approval; and
1-15           WHEREAS, A graduate of South San Antonio High School, he
1-16     received his bachelor's degree from Texas Lutheran College and
1-17     earned his master's degree at Trinity University; he continued his
1-18     higher education at Nova University, attaining his doctorate from
1-19     that fine institution; and
1-20           WHEREAS, Dr. Constanzo was one of five finalists for state
1-21     superintendent of the year in 1985, and in recognition of his
1-22     myriad achievements, a math-science building was erected at East
1-23     Central High School bearing his name; and
1-24           WHEREAS, He has also worked to benefit his fellow citizens as
 2-1     president of the Highlands Rotary Club and South Side Chamber of
 2-2     Commerce, chairman of the Bexar County Superintendents Association,
 2-3     and board member of the Alamo Workforce Commission, as well as
 2-4     through his participation in the Brooks AFB Challenger Foundation,
 2-5     China Grove Lions Club, and the Greater San Antonio Chamber of
 2-6     Commerce; and
 2-7           WHEREAS, Throughout his highly productive tenure as district
 2-8     superintendent, Anthony Constanzo has sought to broaden the avenue
 2-9     of educational opportunity for all of the students in his charge,
2-10     and his efforts in this regard truly merit commendation at this
2-11     time; now, therefore, be it
2-12           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
2-13     Legislature hereby commend Dr. Anthony Constanzo for his many
2-14     contributions to the field of education and extend to him sincere
2-15     best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
2-16           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-17     prepared for Dr. Constanzo as an expression of high regard by the
2-18     Texas House of Representatives.
