R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Richard J. Lee Elementary School in Coppell has
 1-2     earned an award within the Texas Successful Schools Award System,
 1-3     and this honor is indeed deserving of special legislative
 1-4     commendation; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, These awards are presented to schools that are
 1-6     designated "exemplary," "recognized," or "acceptable" and that are
 1-7     ranked in the top 25 percent of campuses as determined by the
 1-8     students' improvement on the Texas Learning Index derived from
 1-9     their scores on the Texas Assessment of Academic Skills reading and
1-10     mathematics tests; and
1-11           WHEREAS, In addition to demonstrating a strong commitment to
1-12     educational excellence, it was necessary for the schools to meet
1-13     performance standards for dropout and attendance rates; Richard J.
1-14     Lee Elementary School has met both the academic and attendance
1-15     standards and is the lone representative from the Coppell
1-16     Independent School District to have received the award for the
1-17     1997-98 school year; and
1-18           WHEREAS, The students and faculty at Richard J. Lee
1-19     Elementary School have performed admirably in their quest for
1-20     academic excellence, and they are to be lauded for their commitment
1-21     to the pursuit of scholastic achievement; now, therefore, be it
1-22           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-23     Legislature hereby congratulate the students and faculty of Richard
1-24     J. Lee Elementary School for receiving a Texas Successful Schools
 2-1     Award System award and extend sincere best wishes to all who have
 2-2     contributed to the success of this remarkable campus; and, be it
 2-3     further
 2-4           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-5     prepared for the faculty and students of Richard J. Lee Elementary
 2-6     School as an expression of high regard by the House of
 2-7     Representatives.
