No. 974 76R15868 BE-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives takes great pride 1-2 in recognizing the Granbury Pirates varsity soccer team on winning 1-3 the 1999 state 4A championship, for the exceptional ability and 1-4 enthusiasm of these student athletes have yielded a season that 1-5 indeed merits special recognition; and 1-6 WHEREAS, The Pirates' claim to the state championship began 1-7 with a win over the Lubbock High School team and concluded 21 1-8 matches later with their victory over Nederland; from start to 1-9 finish, the Pirates allowed just 13 goals while netting 95; and 1-10 WHEREAS, An unblemished 12-0 record earned the team 1-11 recognition as District 6-4A champions, and their exciting wins 1-12 over Belton and Nederland in the finals clinched their state 1-13 championship; and 1-14 WHEREAS, The commendable Pirate coaching staff consists of 1-15 head coach Larry Mayo, assistant coaches David Winkleman and David 1-16 Rogers, trainers Mark Gilbert and Stephanie McVey, and student 1-17 managers Lindsey Dobelbower, Ashley Myatt, and Jill Womack; and 1-18 WHEREAS, With the support of superintendent William Harris, 1-19 principal Bob Small, and athletic director Randy Leach, the 1-20 Granbury team has completed a celebrated season; and 1-21 WHEREAS, The 1999 Pirates soccer team included Dustin Debusk, 1-22 Clint Maine, Derek Debusk, John Brooks, Brady Brown, Joe Ferrell, 1-23 Seth Thompson, Josh Clark, Alex Vasquez, Mark Hayworth, Doug 1-24 Kissinger, J. R. Beach, Scott Gomez, Andrew Fricke, and Joseph 2-1 Perkins; and 2-2 WHEREAS, In addition, Ryan Ellis, Dustin Archer, Michael 2-3 Floyd, Jeremy Singleton, Nick Mendoza, Royce Reese, Josh Cumbie, 2-4 Michael Slaughter, Justin Wise, Luke Reppa, Scott Barnes, Josh 2-5 Spirlock, and Nathan Huntstable were members of this superior 2-6 team, and it is justly fitting to honor them at this time; now, 2-7 therefore, be it 2-8 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-9 Legislature hereby congratulate the Granbury Pirates varsity soccer 2-10 team on winning the 1999 state 4A championship and that all those 2-11 associated with this impressive group be extended warmest best 2-12 wishes; and, be it further 2-13 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-14 prepared for the Pirates' coaches, staff, and team members as an 2-15 expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
