No. 977 76R14349 JBR-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The retirement of Bill Wright as principal of 1-2 Weatherford Independent School District's Sam Houston Elementary 1-3 School brings to a close 48 years of dedicated service, and he is 1-4 indeed deserving of special recognition at this time; and 1-5 WHEREAS, This determined gentleman began his career at the 1-6 age of 14 when he served the district as a bus driver; after 1-7 graduating from Weatherford High School he continued his education 1-8 by attending Weatherford College, Texas Wesleyan University, from 1-9 which he received a bachelor's degree, and Texas Christian 1-10 University, from which he received a master's degree; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Mr. Wright's career as an educator began at 1-12 Weatherford High School as an algebra teacher, after which time he 1-13 accepted a job as principal of T. W. Stanley Elementary School in 1-14 Weatherford and began his career as an administrator; and 1-15 WHEREAS, In 1979, Sam Houston Elementary School opened and 1-16 Mr. Wright became its first principal; part of his lasting legacy 1-17 is the generations of children whose lives he has touched and the 1-18 outstanding example he has set for them with his public-spirited 1-19 nature; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Young people are the Lone Star State's most precious 1-21 resource, and those dedicated professionals who give of themselves 1-22 to educate the next generation of Texans are deserving of our 1-23 profound gratitude and admiration; Bill Wright is one such 1-24 individual, and it is indeed fitting at this time to recognize his 2-1 contributions to the people of his community and the Weatherford 2-2 Independent School District; now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-4 Legislature hereby commend Bill Wright for his outstanding service 2-5 to the Weatherford Independent School District and Sam Houston 2-6 Elementary School, and extend to him sincere best wishes for 2-7 success and happiness in the years to come; and, be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-9 prepared for Mr. Wright as an expression of high regard by the 2-10 Texas House of Representatives.
