No. 989 76R16224 GMW-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, San Antonio Edison High School senior Christi Cano 1-2 recently won the 1999 UIL Class 4A state individual golf title, and 1-3 this outstanding athletic achievement is indeed worthy of special 1-4 recognition; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Returning to the site of her 1998 Class 5A state 1-6 triumph, Ms. Cano earned her second consecutive state title by 1-7 posting scores of 71 and 66 at the Roy Kizer Golf Course in Austin; 1-8 her two-day five-under-par total of 137 was good for a Class 4A 1-9 girls' record and her final round 66 was just two strokes shy of 1-10 the girls' course record she set last year; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Ms. Cano overcame a series of lengthy rain delays 1-12 that forced her to play an additional five holes on the 1-13 tournament's final day; notching six birdies and only one bogey 1-14 during her closing round, she outdistanced her closest competitor 1-15 by six strokes and capped off an extraordinary high school career 1-16 with her second straight state crown; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Christi Cano has distinguished herself as a golfer 1-18 of supreme ability, and it is most fitting that she be commended 1-19 for her most recent accomplishment; now, therefore, be it 1-20 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 1-21 Legislature hereby honor Christi Cano for winning the 1999 UIL 1-22 Class 4A state golf title and extend to her sincere best wishes for 1-23 continued success and happiness; and, be it further 1-24 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-1 prepared for Ms. Cano as an expression of high regard by the Texas 2-2 House of Representatives.
