R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Carl W. Willingham on October 12,
1-2 1998, at the age of 64, brought a great loss to the family and
1-3 friends of this esteemed gentleman; and
1-4 WHEREAS, Born in Panama, Oklahoma, Mr. Willingham was a
1-5 veteran who served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force
1-6 during the Korean War; a devoted family man as well, he married the
1-7 former Patricia Dalby on November 23, 1968, and they enjoyed a
1-8 happy and rewarding marriage spanning three decades; and
1-9 WHEREAS, The managing partner of Bar T Brangus cattle ranch
1-10 in Aspermont, Mr. Willingham was active in his community, serving
1-11 as Stonewall County commissioner, as a member of the Aspermont
1-12 Chamber of Commerce, and as past president of the Stonewall-Kent
1-13 County Farm Bureau; and
1-14 WHEREAS, Mr. Willingham was a devout member of First United
1-15 Methodist Church of Aspermont and attended First United Methodist
1-16 Church in Rochester; in addition to his civic involvement, he
1-17 served on various committees of his church; and
1-18 WHEREAS, Those who were privileged to share the friendship of
1-19 Carl W. Willingham will long miss his presence, for his death has
1-20 deprived them of a special individual, and he will surely be
1-21 remembered with great affection and admiration for many years to
1-22 come; now, therefore, be it
1-23 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-24 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Carl W. Willingham
2-1 and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his
2-2 wife, Patricia "Pat" Willingham; to his son, Carl A. Willingham,
2-3 and his wife, Cleta; to his daughters and son-in-law, Jill
2-4 Willingham and Glynda and Michael Newton; to his brothers, J. B.
2-5 Willingham, Eugene Willingham, and Elton Willingham; to his sister,
2-6 Gladys Oaks; and to the many other relatives and friends of this
2-7 beloved man; and, be it further
2-8 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-9 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
2-10 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
2-11 Carl W. Willingham.
