R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 1-2 Legislature is proud to commemorate the month of May 1999 as Older 1-3 Americans Month in recognition of the many worthwhile contributions 1-4 senior citizens have made and continue to make in our society; and 1-5 WHEREAS, The Texas Association of Homes and Services for the 1-6 Aging (TAHSA) conducts an annual art contest to acknowledge the 1-7 vitality and creativity of all older Texans; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Throughout the State of Texas more than 250 1-9 residents, ranging in age from 65 to 96, have participated in the 1-10 competition by submitting their art, crafts, and literary works for 1-11 consideration; and 1-12 WHEREAS, The winning entries will be featured in a special 1-13 exhibition at the State Capitol from May 8 to May 22, 1999; and 1-14 WHEREAS, The awards ceremony of TAHSA's Ninth Annual Art 1-15 Exhibition, "Art is Ageless," will be held on Saturday, May 15, 1-16 1999, from 3 to 5:30 p.m. at the Capitol to honor all participants 1-17 and winners; and 1-18 WHEREAS, It is fitting that these treasured members of our 1-19 society are being recognized for their insights, talents, and life 1-20 experiences; now, therefore, be it 1-21 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 1-22 Legislature hereby congratulate the winners and participants of the 1-23 Texas Association of Homes and Services for the Aging's Ninth 1-24 Annual Art Exhibition and recognize their work as a reflection of 2-1 the creativity of all older Texans; and, be it further 2-2 RESOLVED, That the members of the house extend their highest 2-3 regard and appreciation to all participants and welcome these 2-4 talented Texans and their families to Austin and the State Capitol 2-5 for the awards ceremony of the "Art is Ageless" exhibition.
