                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, William Clay Ellison of Boy Scout Troop 354 in
 1-2     Houston has earned the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout, and this
 1-3     noteworthy accomplishment is indeed worthy of special recognition;
 1-4     and
 1-5           WHEREAS, A student at Memorial Middle School, this admirable
 1-6     young man entered scouting while in the first grade; he reached the
 1-7     rank of Scouter in early 1997 and advanced to Eagle Scout in
 1-8     slightly more than two years, achieving this impressive distinction
 1-9     on March 20, 1999, at the age of 13; and
1-10           WHEREAS, To attain the rank of Eagle Scout, he worked
1-11     diligently to earn the necessary merit badges and complete the
1-12     rigorous qualifications and, for his service project, he built 20
1-13     wood duck nesting boxes for Brazos Bend State Park; and
1-14           WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Ellison has demonstrated his leadership
1-15     skills as a senior patrol leader, quartermaster, chaplain aide, and
1-16     member of the Order of the Arrow; this dedicated scout has also
1-17     received a host of awards, including the Arrow of Light, Totin'
1-18     Chit, Winter Camper, and Fireman's Chit; and
1-19           WHEREAS, In summer 1997, he garnered the Emergency
1-20     Preparedness Outstanding Camper Award and the Orienteering
1-21     Outstanding Camper Award at the Sid Richardson Boy Scout Summer
1-22     Camp and the Carl McDonald Horsemanship Award at Camp Longhorn;
1-23     more recently, he earned second place at the Golden Arrow
1-24     District's First Aid Meet and Four Winds Camporee and fourth place
 2-1     at the Sam Houston Area First Aid Meet, and received two
 2-2     commendations from Troop 354 for administering first aid to injured
 2-3     persons; and
 2-4           WHEREAS, On May 1, 1999, Mr. Ellison's proud family and the
 2-5     members and leaders of Troop 354 convened at an Eagle Court of
 2-6     Honor held at St.  Martin's Episcopal Church to commemorate his
 2-7     outstanding achievement; and
 2-8           WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Ellison has demonstrated superior
 2-9     ability, dedication, and judgment, and as this talented young man
2-10     embraces a future bright with promise, it is truly fitting that he
2-11     be recognized for his most recent accolade; now, therefore, be it
2-12           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
2-13     Legislature hereby congratulate William Clay Ellison for attaining
2-14     the rank of Eagle Scout and extend to him sincere best wishes for
2-15     continued success and happiness; and, be it further
2-16           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-17     prepared for William Clay Ellison as an expression of high regard
2-18     by the Texas House of Representatives.
