R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representative takes special
1-2 pride in honoring Charles and Betty Baker for their many
1-3 commendable achievements and for being named Citizens of the
1-4 Century by the Munday Chamber of Commerce; and
1-5 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Baker are dedicated members of the
1-6 Munday community and have served as directors of the First National
1-7 Bank in Munday and the Economic Development Corporation of Munday;
1-8 they have aided the school district as members of the school board
1-9 and as members of the high school band and athletic booster clubs;
1-10 and
1-11 WHEREAS, During the celebrated years that this respected
1-12 couple have spent in Munday, they have been involved in various
1-13 church activities and have lent their wisdom and time as Sunday
1-14 school teachers for the members of their congregation; in addition,
1-15 they have been active in the Boy Scouts of America and as members
1-16 of the Munday Chamber of Commerce; and
1-17 WHEREAS, Mr. Baker honorably served his country as a member
1-18 of the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946 and during the Korean War from
1-19 1950 to 1951, and the dedication he has shown his country has also
1-20 been shown to the Munday community through the enthusiastic work
1-21 done by him and his wife; and
1-22 WHEREAS, Married in 1947, the Bakers have been blessed with
1-23 two sons, Bobby Baker and Bill Baker, and have had the extra
1-24 pleasure of welcoming three grandchildren, Whitney, Ross, and
2-1 Sandy, into the family fold; and
2-2 WHEREAS, The outstanding contributions that Charles and Betty
2-3 Baker have made to their community are truly exemplary, and it is
2-4 indeed appropriate to honor them at this time; now, therefore, be
2-5 it
2-6 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
2-7 Legislature hereby congratulate Charles and Betty Baker on being
2-8 recognized as the Munday Citizens of the Century and extend to them
2-9 sincere best wishes for great happiness and success in the future;
2-10 and, be it further
2-11 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-12 prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Baker as an expression of high regard by
2-13 the Texas House of Representatives.
