R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor 1-2 Sara Meridith Allen for her personal achievements and her 1-3 outstanding pursuit of academic excellence as she prepares to 1-4 graduate on May 22, 1999, during the 116th Spring Commencement of 1-5 The University of Texas at Austin; and 1-6 WHEREAS, The daughter of former Representative Joseph Hugh 1-7 Allen and Kitty Cowan Allen, this exemplary young Texan is a vital 1-8 and valued member of The University of Texas student body and has 1-9 lent her time and talents to a number of campus groups, including 1-10 Disch-Falk Diamonds, Texas Cowgirls, and the Alpha Delta Pi 1-11 Sorority; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Ms. Allen's wide range of interests and abilities 1-13 have led her to pursue several jobs during her college career, most 1-14 notably as an assistant sergeant-at-arms for the house of 1-15 representatives during the 75th Texas Legislature; she has also 1-16 volunteered with Austin's Ronald McDonald House and the Susan G. 1-17 Komen Foundation; and 1-18 WHEREAS, After graduation, Ms. Allen plans to use her 1-19 bachelor of science degree in speech to pursue a career in 1-20 corporate communications; this remarkable young woman has 1-21 demonstrated extraordinary dedication in attaining her goals, and 1-22 her poise, promise, and determination typify the finest qualities 1-23 of our state's young people; now, therefore, be it 1-24 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-1 Legislature hereby congratulate Sara Meridith Allen on the occasion 2-2 of her graduation from The University of Texas at Austin and extend 2-3 to her sincere best wishes for success and happiness in the future; 2-4 and, be it further 2-5 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-6 prepared for Ms. Allen as an expression of high regard by the Texas 2-7 House of Representatives.
