R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Patrick Brown of Conroe has long been an outstanding 1-2 civic leader, and his many notable achievements are truly worthy of 1-3 special recognition; and 1-4 WHEREAS, A veteran of the 8th Air Force of the United States 1-5 Army Air Corps, Mr. Brown earned his bachelor of arts, master of 1-6 arts, and doctor of philosophy degrees from Sam Houston State 1-7 University in Huntsville; and 1-8 WHEREAS, This distinguished gentleman was a school 1-9 administrator for an impressive 44 years; during his lengthy career 1-10 he served as a teacher, principal, superintendent, coach, textbook 1-11 coordinator, and even school nurse for the independent school 1-12 districts of Spurger, Tomball, Magnolia, Klein, and Conroe; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Named to Who's Who in the Methodist Church, 1-14 Mr. Brown has donated his time as a men's Sunday school teacher for 1-15 41 years and to the administrative board of the Methodist Church 1-16 for 16 years; a life member of the Masonic Lodge, he has been 1-17 active with Lions International for 49 years, receiving that 1-18 organization's highest honor, the Melvin Jones Award; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Throughout the years he has drawn strength and 1-20 inspiration from his wife and college sweetheart, Catherine Poole 1-21 Brown, and their three children, Patrick Brown, Linda Jones, and 1-22 Nancy Hugon; he is also the devoted grandfather of Justin and Leah 1-23 Brown, Erin Catchings, Megan Hohlt, and Damian Jones; and 1-24 WHEREAS, An avid gardener with a heart of gold, Patrick Brown 2-1 has distinguished himself as a vital and valued member of his 2-2 community, and it is most appropriate that he be recognized for his 2-3 many accomplishments; now, therefore, be it 2-4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-5 Legislature hereby honor Patrick Brown for his significant civic 2-6 contributions and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued 2-7 success and happiness; and, be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-9 prepared for Mr. Brown as an expression of high regard by the Texas 2-10 House of Representatives.
