No. 1023 76R16828 MDM-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Ryan Gabriel Smith of 1-2 Austin, on March 21, 1999, at the age of 25, has brought a great 1-3 loss to the family and many friends of this esteemed young man, and 1-4 it is most appropriate that we honor his memory at this time; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Mr. Smith was the victim of a motorcycle accident 1-6 during practice for competition; a member of the Central Motorcycle 1-7 Racing Association, he was ranked number two in Texas and number 1-8 eight nationally in his class; and 1-9 WHEREAS, He graduated from Austin Community College with an 1-10 associate of applied science degree in printing management and had 1-11 been accepted at St. Edward's University, where he planned to 1-12 complete his bachelor's degree in management operations; and 1-13 WHEREAS, A highly respected employee at Wintex International, 1-14 Mr. Smith began his employment with the company as a packer, before 1-15 advancing to assistant manager, purchasing agent, and safety 1-16 supervisor; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Mr. Smith delighted his family and friends with his 1-18 enthusiasm for life and his kind heart; and he reminded us that the 1-19 ability to give and inspire love is not limited by age or time; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Although it is painful to say goodbye to one so 1-21 young and full of promise, it is fitting to remember his unique 1-22 spirit of friendship and devotion that will surely live on in the 1-23 hearts and minds of all those whose lives he touched; now, 1-24 therefore, be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-2 Legislature hereby honor the memory of Ryan Gabriel Smith and 2-3 extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his mother 2-4 and her husband, Ana Margarita "Cha" Guzman and Gilberto Ocanas; to 2-5 his father and his wife, Pat and Hortencia "Korkie" Smith; to his 2-6 brother, Sean Smith; to his sister, Marissa Alexandra Smith; to his 2-7 grandparents, Gabriel and Margarita Guzman; to his fiance, Julia 2-8 Hebert; and to the many other friends and relatives of this fine 2-9 young man; and, be it further 2-10 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-11 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-12 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-13 Ryan Gabriel Smith.
