R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to
1-2 congratulate Kate Paddock of Austin on being named Tops in Texas
1-3 and earning first place in feature writing at the UIL Class 4A
1-4 state meet held at The University of Texas at Austin; and
1-5 WHEREAS, Ms. Paddock is a sophomore in the Liberal Arts
1-6 Academy at Johnston High School in Austin where she is a member of
1-7 the school newspaper staff; to earn the designation Tops in Texas,
1-8 her story was judged best among all first-place winners at the
1-9 state competition; and
1-10 WHEREAS, Recently inducted into the National Honor Society,
1-11 she will serve as treasurer of the junior class next year; she also
1-12 attends St. David's Episcopal Church and participates in a number
1-13 of extracurricular activities, including Youth in Government; and
1-14 WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has demonstrated great
1-15 dedication, leadership, and self-discipline in pursuit of her
1-16 goals; she stands at the threshold of a future bright with promise,
1-17 and it is a privilege to honor her at this time; now, therefore, be
1-18 it
1-19 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-20 Legislature hereby congratulate Kate Paddock on achieving first
1-21 place in feature writing and being named Tops in Texas in writing
1-22 at the UIL Class 4A state meet and extend to her sincere best
1-23 wishes for success and happiness in all her future endeavors; and,
1-24 be it further
2-1 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-2 prepared for Ms. Paddock as an expression of high regard by the
2-3 Texas House of Representatives.
