R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Cathryn R. Steele has earned the distinction of 1-2 being the salutatorian at Med High School, and for achieving this 1-3 auspicious honor she is truly deserving of special legislative 1-4 recognition; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Earning the right to call oneself "salutatorian" 1-6 requires not only intellect and aptitude, but four years of 1-7 dedication to the highest academic standards; the salutatorian must 1-8 display a firm understanding of the entire curriculum, from math 1-9 and science to language arts to social studies, while demonstrating 1-10 an unwavering commitment to education; and 1-11 WHEREAS, The salutatorian serves as a role model and leads by 1-12 example, combining a steadfast vision of excellence with a 1-13 tenacious enthusiasm; the competition for this coveted honor is 1-14 often fierce, although the spirit of the rivalry remains rooted in 1-15 a tradition of goodwill and the rewards of the countless hours of 1-16 study and preparation are myriad; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Ms. Steele has earned the respect and admiration of 1-18 her friends and classmates at Med High School, and as she embraces 1-19 a future bright with promise it is most fitting to pay tribute to 1-20 her for this outstanding accomplishment; now, therefore, be it 1-21 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 1-22 Legislature hereby congratulate Cathryn R. Steele on being named 1-23 the 1999 salutatorian at Med High School and wish her well in all 1-24 her future endeavors; and, be it further 2-1 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-2 prepared for Ms. Steele as an expression of high regard by the 2-3 Texas House of Representatives.
