                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Rogelio Rivera, Jr., has earned the distinction of
 1-2     being the valedictorian at Pharr-San Juan-Alamo High School, and
 1-3     for achieving this auspicious honor he is truly deserving of
 1-4     special legislative recognition; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Earning the right to call oneself "valedictorian"
 1-6     requires not only intellect and aptitude, but four years of
 1-7     dedication to the highest academic standards; the valedictorian
 1-8     must display a firm understanding of the entire curriculum, from
 1-9     math and science to language arts to social studies, while
1-10     demonstrating an unwavering commitment to education; and
1-11           WHEREAS, The valedictorian serves as a role model and leads
1-12     by example, combining a steadfast vision of excellence with a
1-13     tenacious enthusiasm; the competition for this coveted honor is
1-14     often fierce, although the spirit of the rivalry remains rooted in
1-15     a tradition of goodwill, and the rewards of the countless hours of
1-16     study and preparation are myriad; and
1-17           WHEREAS,  Mr. Rivera has earned the respect and admiration of
1-18     his friends and classmates at Pharr-San Juan-Alamo High School, and
1-19     as he embraces a future bright with promise, it is most fitting to
1-20     pay tribute to him for this outstanding accomplishment; now,
1-21     therefore, be it
1-22           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-23     Legislature hereby congratulate Rogelio Rivera, Jr., on being named
1-24     the 1999 valedictorian at Pharr-San Juan-Alamo High School and wish
 2-1     him well in all his future endeavors; and, be it further
 2-2           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-3     prepared for  Mr. Rivera as an expression of high regard by the
 2-4     Texas House of Representatives.
