No. 1078 76R16704 MDM-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to 1-2 congratulate Dr. Edgar Lee Lancaster on his retirement from Baylor 1-3 Medical Center at Grapevine, concluding an outstanding career in 1-4 medicine spanning nearly five decades; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Dr. Lancaster and his wife, Dr. Minnie Lee 1-6 Lancaster, met and married while both were medical students at the 1-7 University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston; the devoted couple 1-8 have enjoyed a happy and rewarding marriage for half a century and 1-9 they have been blessed with five children; and 1-10 WHEREAS, In 1953, Dr. Lancaster and his family moved to 1-11 Grapevine and with his wife he opened a family medical practice and 1-12 built a small clinic and hospital; in 1967, the Lancasters 1-13 established Grapevine Memorial Hospital, now known as Baylor 1-14 Medical Center at Grapevine, and donated it to Baylor University in 1-15 1981, with the expressed desire that it remain a nonprofit 1-16 institution supporting research and an intern-resident program; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Deeply committed to his community, church, and area 1-18 charitable organizations, this esteemed physician volunteers with 1-19 the Boy Scouts and assists young people in the community as well as 1-20 those living at the Methodist Children's Home in Waco; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Dr. Lancaster also shares his time and resources 1-22 with the First United Methodist Church of Grapevine, Baylor Medical 1-23 Center at Grapevine, and the Methodist Mission Home of San Antonio; 1-24 and 2-1 WHEREAS, During Edgar Lancaster's notable career, he has 2-2 exemplified the highest ideals of the medical profession and he is 2-3 truly worthy of special recognition at this time; now, therefore, 2-4 be it 2-5 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-6 Legislature hereby commend Dr. Edgar Lancaster for a distinguished 2-7 career in medicine and extend to him warmest best wishes for a 2-8 fulfilling and enjoyable retirement; and, be it further 2-9 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-10 prepared for Dr. Lancaster as an expression of high regard by the 2-11 Texas House of Representatives.
