                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to
 1-2     recognize the Prevention Promise program of Hurst-Euless-Bedford
 1-3     (HEB); and
 1-4           WHEREAS, The Prevention Promise program was established to
 1-5     initiate HEB's Promise chapter as an affiliate of the national
 1-6     organization, America's Promise; to this end, Drug Prevention
 1-7     Resources, Inc., a statewide organization delivering a number of
 1-8     community-based programs across the state, secured a grant from the
 1-9     Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse to fund the program and
1-10     brought together a coalition of noteworthy organizations and
1-11     agencies to collaborate on plans for the program; this outstanding
1-12     coalition includes a number of Tarrant County agencies, the
1-13     Northeast Gang Task Force Youth Diversion Program, and the HEB
1-14     police departments, school district, and parks and recreation
1-15     departments, as well as several other community-based
1-16     organizations; and
1-17           WHEREAS, This estimable program targets 200 fifth- and
1-18     sixth-grade students deemed most at risk to fall prey to substance
1-19     abuse; in addition to heightening their perception of the dangers
1-20     associated with the use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs, the
1-21     program's myriad services strive to decrease negative behaviors,
1-22     while increasing positive behaviors, and to strengthen family
1-23     support; and
1-24           WHEREAS, The significant contributions of the Prevention
 2-1     Promise program will undoubtedly make a positive and lasting
 2-2     difference in the lives of many young Texans, and it is indeed
 2-3     fitting to pay tribute to this worthy endeavor at this time; now,
 2-4     therefore, be it
 2-5           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
 2-6     Legislature hereby honor all those associated with the Prevention
 2-7     Promise program for their dedicated efforts and extend to them
 2-8     sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
 2-9           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-10     prepared for the Prevention Promise program as an expression of
2-11     high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
