R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Rural mail carriers provide a valuable service to
 1-2     the citizens of Texas, and in light of recent accidents that caused
 1-3     the deaths of two Lone Star mail carriers, it is important to
 1-4     emphasize cautious driving on our state's rural roads; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, The untimely deaths of these individuals were
 1-6     directly attributable to reckless and careless driving, and the
 1-7     loss of these esteemed public servants has caused much sadness and
 1-8     grief to their families, friends, and fellow workers; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Practicing safe driving skills and maintaining
1-10     vigilance on our rural roads are important factors in the
1-11     prevention of loss of life for all those who travel our state's
1-12     highways and byways, and by encouraging Texans to remain aware of
1-13     the presence of rural mail carriers, future tragedies may be
1-14     prevented; now, therefore, be it
1-15           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-16     Legislature hereby urge all Texans to be mindful of rural mail
1-17     carriers as they drive the country roads of Texas and to obey our
1-18     state's traffic laws.
