R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, On May 25, 1999, Texas House of Representatives 1-2 Security Officer Robert Kenneth Dittlinger will observe his 51st 1-3 birthday, and it is truly a pleasure to honor him on his special 1-4 day; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Born on May 25, 1948, in San Antonio, Mr. Dittlinger 1-6 graduated from Highlands High School in 1966; he then attended Sul 1-7 Ross State University where he pursued his education in the field 1-8 of criminal justice; and 1-9 WHEREAS, A veteran of the United States Navy, Mr. Dittlinger 1-10 began a distinguished career with the Texas Department of Public 1-11 Safety in 1970 that spanned more than 28 years; during his first 1-12 decade of service he worked as a state trooper with the Texas 1-13 Highway Patrol, assisting with the prosecution of criminal cases 1-14 and the training of new troopers; and 1-15 WHEREAS, This esteemed public servant next became a vital 1-16 member of the Governor's Protective Detail, and from 1980 to 1989, 1-17 he assured the safety of the governor and first family, 1-18 coordinating travel and security arrangements and helping to 1-19 oversee safety at the Governor's Mansion; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Promoted in March 1989 to sergeant investigator of 1-21 the Special Crimes Services section, Mr. Dittlinger dedicated nine 1-22 years to extensive criminal investigative work before retiring from 1-23 the department; in January 1999, he accepted a new post as a 1-24 security officer for the Texas House of Representatives, in which 2-1 capacity he has helped to safeguard the speaker and other house 2-2 members during the current legislative session; and 2-3 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Dittlinger is supported by 2-4 his devoted family, including his wife, Susie; his son, Kenneth 2-5 Shane Dittlinger; his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Brian 2-6 McDaniel; and his granddaughter, Lindsey McDaniel; an avid 2-7 sportsman, he enjoys golfing, fishing, and hunting in his leisure 2-8 time; and 2-9 WHEREAS, For 51 years, this accomplished law enforcement 2-10 officer has led a full life committed to his family, his state, and 2-11 his country, and it is indeed fitting that he be recognized at this 2-12 time; now, therefore, be it 2-13 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-14 Legislature hereby congratulate Robert Kenneth Dittlinger on the 2-15 occasion of his 51st birthday and extend to him sincere best wishes 2-16 for continued success and happiness; and, be it further 2-17 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-18 prepared for Mr. Dittlinger as an expression of high regard by the 2-19 Texas House of Representatives.
