                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, January 1999 has been designated School Board
 1-2     Recognition Month, and this occasion is truly an appropriate time
 1-3     to honor the efforts of those men and women who serve the
 1-4     educational needs of their community as school board members; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Providing young citizens with a quality education is
 1-6     essential to creating a prosperous future for our state and nation,
 1-7     and public schools are the cornerstone of this crucial endeavor;
 1-8     and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Local school board members unite their efforts with
1-10     those of parents, classroom teachers, and other education
1-11     professionals to provide the best possible learning environment for
1-12     area students; and
1-13           WHEREAS, Throughout her tenure as a member of the Rio Hondo
1-14     Independent School District Board of Trustees, Lina R. Arredondo
1-15     has  demonstrated an unwavering commitment to meeting students'
1-16     current needs and to anticipating future educational challenges as
1-17     well; and
1-18           WHEREAS, Lina R. Arredondo has played a vital role in
1-19     broadening the path of educational opportunity for young Texans,
1-20     and her notable achievements in this regard are indeed worthy of
1-21     special praise and recognition at this time; now, therefore, be it
1-22           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-23     Legislature hereby honor Lina R. Arredondo for her many significant
1-24     contributions to the cause of education as a member of the Rio
 2-1     Hondo Independent School District Board of Trustees and that she be
 2-2     extended sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
 2-3     further
 2-4           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-5     prepared for Lina R.  Arredondo as an expression of high regard by
 2-6     the Texas House of Representatives.
