R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, January 1999 has been designated School Board
1-2 Recognition Month, and this occasion is truly an appropriate time
1-3 to honor the efforts of those men and women who serve the
1-4 educational needs of their community as school board members; and
1-5 WHEREAS, Providing young citizens with a quality education is
1-6 essential to creating a prosperous future for our state and nation,
1-7 and public schools are the cornerstone of this crucial endeavor;
1-8 and
1-9 WHEREAS, Local school board members unite their efforts with
1-10 those of parents, classroom teachers, and other education
1-11 professionals to provide the best possible learning environment for
1-12 area students; and
1-13 WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure as vice president of the
1-14 Sharyland Independent School District Board of Trustees, Thomas P.
1-15 Wingate has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to meeting
1-16 students' current needs and to anticipating future educational
1-17 challenges as well; and
1-18 WHEREAS, Thomas P. Wingate has played a vital role in
1-19 broadening the path of educational opportunity for young Texans,
1-20 and his notable achievements in this regard are indeed worthy of
1-21 special praise and recognition at this time; now, therefore, be it
1-22 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-23 Legislature hereby honor Thomas P. Wingate for his many significant
1-24 contributions to the cause of education as a member of the
2-1 Sharyland Independent School District Board of Trustees and that he
2-2 be extended sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
2-3 further
2-4 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-5 prepared for Thomas P. Wingate as an expression of high regard by
2-6 the Texas House of Representatives.
