R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Tiffany Green of Hamlin High School recently won two 1-2 gold and two silver medals at the 1999 UIL state track and field 1-3 tournament in Austin, and this outstanding accomplishment is indeed 1-4 worthy of special recognition; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Ms. Green claimed gold in the 100-meter dash, 1-6 setting a new Class 2A record with a time of 11.64, and followed 1-7 that stellar performance by winning the gold in the 200-meter dash 1-8 with a time of 23.92; and 1-9 WHEREAS, This talented young woman also earned a silver medal 1-10 in the long jump, an event she had been competing in for only two 1-11 months, by leaping 18 feet 10 inches, an effort that bested her 1-12 personal high mark by almost 9 inches; she garnered another silver 1-13 by anchoring the Lady Pipers' 1,600-meter relay squad, which 1-14 finished second with a time of 4:04.53; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Tiffany Green has distinguished herself as an 1-16 athlete of superior ability, and it is truly appropriate to honor 1-17 her for her most recent achievements; now, therefore, be it 1-18 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 1-19 Legislature hereby congratulate Tiffany Green for winning two gold 1-20 and two silver medals at the 1999 UIL state track and field meet 1-21 and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success and 1-22 happiness; and, be it further 1-23 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 1-24 prepared for Ms. Green as an expression of high regard by the Texas 2-1 House of Representatives.
