R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The retirement of Orangefield High School girls'
 1-2     basketball coach Bill Tennison brings to a close the remarkable
 1-3     career of this esteemed gentleman; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Raised in the Panhandle town of Silverton,
 1-5     Coach Tennison earned a bachelor's degree from Howard Payne
 1-6     University and a master's degree from the University of Arkansas;
 1-7     before joining Orangefield High School in 1975, he coached at a
 1-8     number of other locations, including Idalou, Sudan, Happy, Morse,
 1-9     Stinnett, and Anson; and
1-10           WHEREAS, During his 40-year career he compiled a win-loss
1-11     record of 692-573, including a record of 462-281 as head coach of
1-12     the girls' basketball team at Orangefield High School; in addition
1-13     to guiding the Lady Bobcats to the state playoffs 11 times, he has
1-14     also coached football, cross country, volleyball, and track and
1-15     taught 18 different subjects; and
1-16           WHEREAS, Throughout his stellar career, Bill Tennison has
1-17     distinguished himself as a basketball coach and educator of
1-18     superior ability, and it is indeed appropriate to pay tribute to
1-19     him at this time; now, therefore, be it
1-20           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-21     Legislature hereby honor Bill Tennison on the occasion of his
1-22     retirement and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
1-23     success and happiness; and, be it further
1-24           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-1     prepared for Coach Tennison as an expression of high regard by the
 2-2     Texas House of Representatives.
