R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Colleen Wooten Jenkins is retiring from Reliant 1-2 Energy after 15 years of dedicated service, and she is indeed 1-3 deserving of special recognition at this time; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Born in Portsmouth, Ohio, Mrs. Jenkins attended 1-5 Northwestern Nazarene College in Napa, Idaho; in 1984 she began 1-6 working for Houston Lighting and Power, now Reliant Energy, and 1-7 during her 15-year tenure she has watched the company grow into a 1-8 successful international corporation; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Employed in Austin, Mrs. Jenkins is known for the 1-10 valuable assistance that she provides for younger employees, and 1-11 many of her colleagues refer to her as the "heart and soul" of the 1-12 Austin office; she has had the privilege of watching the 1-13 progression of various employees of Reliant Energy, one of whom has 1-14 expanded his career by serving the Lone Star State as a state 1-15 representative; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Mrs. Jenkins is a devoted wife to her husband, Lewis 1-17 Jenkins, and this happy couple has had the opportunity to combine 1-18 their two families to make one large and loving family that 1-19 includes their six children, Michael Selby, Letha Villegas, Lydia 1-20 Selby, Lewis D. Jenkins, Kathryn Grider, and Deborah Hartmann, and 1-21 20 grandchildren; and 1-22 WHEREAS, In addition to her many accomplishments at work and 1-23 home, this esteemed woman is a pianist for her church, and in April 1-24 1999 she received the District Service Award with a Servant's Heart 2-1 Trophy, the highest honor bestowed upon a layperson; during her 2-2 free time Mrs. Jenkins enjoys cultivating her beautiful roses and 2-3 spending time with her family; and 2-4 WHEREAS, Mrs. Jenkins's exceptional career has earned her the 2-5 respect and admiration of her friends, family, and colleagues, and 2-6 it is truly a pleasure to honor her for her many years of dedicated 2-7 service to Reliant Energy; now, therefore, be it 2-8 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-9 Legislature hereby commend Colleen Wooten Jenkins for her 2-10 achievements and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued 2-11 success and happiness in her retirement; and, be it further 2-12 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-13 prepared for Mrs. Jenkins as an expression of high regard by the 2-14 Texas House of Representatives.
