By Capelo H.R. No. 1219 76R15655 MDM-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor 1-2 Edwardo G. Ochoa, Jr., of Corpus Christi on being named a 1-3 recipient of the 1999 Navy Fleet Manager of the Year Award; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Mr. Ochoa is Transportation Supervisor/Manager of 1-5 the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station Public Works Department and he 1-6 is one of only three employees from 294 naval installations 1-7 worldwide to be accorded this distinguished honor in 1999; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Born on January 24, 1948, in Kingsville, Mr. Ochoa 1-9 graduated from H. M. King High School in 1967 and attended Del Mar 1-10 College; and 1-11 WHEREAS, He served his country with distinction as a member 1-12 of the United States Army and was highly decorated for his bravery 1-13 while completing a tour of duty in Vietnam; he received the 1-14 National Defense Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, a Vietnam 1-15 Campaign Medal, a Combat Infantry Badge, two Overseas bars, a 1-16 bronze star with V device for valor, and a bronze star with first 1-17 oak leaf cluster; the bronze stars were awarded to Mr. Ochoa for 1-18 leading his combat unit to safety after being ambushed by a North 1-19 Vietnamese military unit; he was honorably discharged in 1971 with 1-20 the rank of E-5 and currently holds an E-7 rank as a member of the 1-21 Texas National Guard; and 1-22 WHEREAS, He is supported in all his endeavors by his wife, 1-23 Olga, and by his daughter and his son; and 1-24 WHEREAS, Mr. Ochoa's commitment to his family, his state, and 2-1 his country is truly an inspiration to all who know him, and he is 2-2 indeed worthy of special recognition at this time; now, therefore, 2-3 be it 2-4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-5 Legislature hereby congratulate Edwardo G. Ochoa, Jr., on his 2-6 receipt of the 1999 Navy Fleet Manager of the Year Award and extend 2-7 to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-9 prepared for Mr. Ochoa as an expression of high regard by the Texas 2-10 House of Representatives.
