                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Over the course of her quarter-century with Central
 1-2     Arizona College, Coach Lin Laursen has built the Lady Vaqueras
 1-3     basketball team into the nation's most elite program; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Her phenomenal success, which includes a win/loss
 1-5     record of 684-119, has been highlighted by two National Junior
 1-6     College Athletic Association (NJCAA) championships; in addition,
 1-7     her teams have advanced to the NJCAA final four on six occasions
 1-8     and have won 22 Arizona Community College Athletic Conference
 1-9     championships, including 18 consecutive titles; and
1-10           WHEREAS, The Lady Vaqueras domination of their conference has
1-11     been so complete under Coach Laursen that the team compiled a
1-12     conference winning streak of 185 games; and
1-13           WHEREAS, During Coach Laursen's tenure, 98 of her players
1-14     have gone on to attend major colleges, 75 have attained
1-15     all-conference or all-region status, 22 have been named
1-16     all-Americans, and several have advanced to play at the
1-17     professional level; and
1-18           WHEREAS, In recognition of her many notable accomplishments,
1-19     Coach Laursen was chosen to receive the Alberta Lee Cox
1-20     Sportsmanship Award in 1994; and
1-21           WHEREAS, The citizens of Longview are proud to welcome Coach
1-22     Laursen to participate as a clinic sponsor, instructor, and
1-23     long-time supporter of the National Junior Achievement Shootout
1-24     held in Longview; and
 2-1           WHEREAS, Throughout her 25-year career as coach of the
 2-2     Central Arizona College Lady Vaqueras, Lin Laursen has worked to
 2-3     enable each of her young athletes to excel individually and as a
 2-4     team member, and her exceptional success in this regard is indeed
 2-5     worthy of special recognition at this time; now, therefore, be it
 2-6           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
 2-7     Legislature hereby congratulate Lin Laursen of Central Arizona
 2-8     College on her remarkable achievements as coach of the Lady
 2-9     Vaqueras basketball team and extend to her sincere best wishes for
2-10     continued success; and, be it further
2-11           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-12     prepared for Coach Laursen as an expression of high regard by the
2-13     Texas House of Representatives.
