R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
 1-2     Anna Marie Waldrip of Munday High School on winning the 1999 UIL
 1-3     Class 1A 200-meter dash; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, The hotly contested 200-meter dash saw only two
 1-5     tenths of a second between the first-place and third-place
 1-6     finishers, but this remarkable young woman refused to be denied
 1-7     first place, lunging forward at the last instant to touch the tape
 1-8     in a time of 25.19; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, In addition to her gold medal in the 200-meter
1-10     event, she also made significant contributions to Munday High
1-11     School's state track title as the anchor leg runner on the
1-12     Mogulettes 800-meter relay team, which also claimed gold, and the
1-13     silver medal winning 1,600-meter relay team; and
1-14           WHEREAS, A talented and multifaceted athlete, Ms. Waldrip is
1-15     a source of tremendous pride to her family, as well as the students
1-16     and staff at Munday High School, and she is indeed worthy of
1-17     special recognition; now, therefore, be it
1-18           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-19     Legislature hereby congratulate Anna Marie Waldrip on winning the
1-20     UIL Class 1A gold medal in the 200-meter dash and extend to her
1-21     sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
1-22                 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
1-23     prepared for Ms. Waldrip as an expression of high regard by the
1-24     Texas House of Representatives.
