R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor 1-2 Terry K. Mayfield and Terry G. Mayfield for their significant 1-3 contributions to the State Firemen and Fire Marshals' Association 1-4 (SFFMA) and the Texas Fireman's Auxiliary (TFA); and 1-5 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Mayfield have long devoted their time 1-6 and energy to the betterment of their community by participating in 1-7 organizations that support the vital function of fire prevention 1-8 and control; and 1-9 WHEREAS, In 1974 Mr. Mayfield began his career as a volunteer 1-10 with the Frisco Volunteer Fire Department; he steadily advanced 1-11 through the ranks and was acting chief at McKinney when he accepted 1-12 a position as the first paid chief in Seguin; and 1-13 WHEREAS, This distinguished gentleman then served four terms 1-14 as president of the Guadalupe County Fire Fighters' Association 1-15 (GCFFA) and was instrumental in the building of its fire training 1-16 field; Mr. Mayfield currently serves as training coordinator of the 1-17 GCFFA school and is active on numerous county and district 1-18 committees; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Also involved in fire prevention and control, 1-20 Mrs. Mayfield is a nine-year member of the Seguin Firemen's 1-21 Auxiliary and pumper racing team, holding the offices of president 1-22 and secretary; in 1997 her diligent efforts were recognized when 1-23 she was chosen as the auxiliary's member of the year; and 1-24 WHEREAS, In 1994 Mr. Mayfield was elected as fourth vice 2-1 president of SFFMA in Beaumont and he has since become the 2-2 organization's president, with a term that is set to expire in June 2-3 1999; also in 1994, Mrs. Mayfield won the office of fourth 2-4 president with TFA in Beaumont, and her ascension to the rank of 2-5 president has mirrored her husband's achievements; and 2-6 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Mayfield have shared a loving 28-year 2-7 union that has been blessed with two children, Stacey Mayfield 2-8 Newman and Will "Critter" Mayfield; they also hold the distinction 2-9 of being only the second husband and wife team to move up through 2-10 the chairs of SFFMA and TFA at the same time; and 2-11 WHEREAS, Terry K. Mayfield and Terry G. Mayfield have devoted 2-12 themselves to the cause of fire prevention and safety, and their 2-13 commendable efforts are truly worthy of special recognition at this 2-14 time; now, therefore, be it 2-15 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-16 Legislature hereby commend Terry K. Mayfield and Terry G. Mayfield 2-17 for their years of devoted service to the State Firemen and Fire 2-18 Marshals' Association and the Texas Fireman's Auxiliary and extend 2-19 to them sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it 2-20 further 2-21 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-22 prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Mayfield as an expression of high regard 2-23 by the Texas House of Representatives.
