R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, For 140 days every other year the personal lives of 1-2 countless employees of the Texas house and related legislative 1-3 service agencies come to a screeching halt as the regular session 1-4 and pressing matters of state government loom largely on the 1-5 horizon; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Few people who aren't actually employed in this line 1-7 of work can truly understand the physical and emotional toll it 1-8 takes on those who are; yet, while the demands are great, so too 1-9 are its rewards, for as the legislative process unfolds before our 1-10 eyes, great steps are being taken to improve the lives of many 1-11 Texans and to enhance and preserve this great state for future 1-12 generations; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Among those on the front line of service are the 1-14 dedicated staff employed in members' offices, where each session 1-15 both seasoned veterans and relative newcomers to the State Capitol 1-16 contribute their time and energy to assist their bosses with their 1-17 legislative programs and address the needs of the citizens back 1-18 home; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Working more behind the scenes are the staff of 1-20 numerous legislative service agencies, including the State 1-21 Auditor's Office, the Legislative Budget Board, the Texas 1-22 Legislative Council, the Legislative Reference Library, and the 1-23 Sunset Advisory Commission, all of whom play an essential role in 1-24 ensuring the success of every legislative session; and 2-1 WHEREAS, Though at this time of the year their bodies are 2-2 tired, tempers are flaring, and families are stressed, legislative 2-3 support staff are a resilient breed who enjoy the camaraderie of 2-4 their peers in the trenches and wouldn't trade their jobs for any 2-5 other in the world; today, the members of this chamber would like 2-6 to honor all of these remarkable people who have made great 2-7 sacrifices to be a part of the madness that is the legislative 2-8 session; now, therefore, be it 2-9 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-10 Legislature hereby commend all legislative employees and support 2-11 staff for their extraordinary efforts in behalf of the legislature 2-12 during this regular session and extend to them our heartfelt 2-13 appreciation for their selfless contributions to good government in 2-14 the Lone Star State.
