                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to
 1-2     recognize Shelley Davis for his exemplary work as a legislative
 1-3     intern with the Texas Legislative Black Caucus; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Shelley Davis is a member of the largest group of
 1-5     young men and women to participate in the Texas Legislative
 1-6     Internship Program (TLIP) since its inception in December 1990;
 1-7     through this unique program, students from Texas colleges and
 1-8     universities have the opportunity to witness their state government
 1-9     functioning at its dynamic best as they serve as interns for
1-10     members of the legislature and at certain state agencies; and
1-11           WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Mickey Leland Center on World
1-12     Hunger and Peace at Texas Southern University, the intern program
1-13     fosters academic study and research and offers supervised practical
1-14     training; Senator Rodney Ellis serves as program advisor, and his
1-15     office staff helps to direct on-site activities; and
1-16           WHEREAS, This esteemed young man has benefited as a
1-17     participant in TLIP, for he has enhanced his knowledge of the
1-18     legislative process and the issues facing citizens of the Lone Star
1-19     State, while also gaining valuable work experience in a political
1-20     environment; and
1-21           WHEREAS, Mr. Davis has demonstrated exceptional commitment
1-22     and integrity during his tenure in the program, and he is indeed
1-23     deserving of special legislative recognition for his contributions
1-24     to the state; now, therefore, be it
 2-1           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
 2-2     Legislature hereby commend Shelley Davis for his service as a
 2-3     legislative intern with the Texas Legislative Black Caucus and
 2-4     extend to him best wishes for continued success and happiness in
 2-5     all his future endeavors; and, be it further
 2-6           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-7     prepared for Mr. Davis as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 2-8     House of Representatives.
