No. 1252 76R17632(7) MDM-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to 1-2 recognize Monica Higgins-Buckhalter for her exemplary work as a 1-3 legislative intern with Representative Scott Hochberg; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Monica Higgins-Buckhalter is a member of the largest 1-5 group of young men and women to participate in the Texas 1-6 Legislative Internship Program (TLIP) since its inception in 1-7 December 1990; through this unique program, students from Texas 1-8 colleges and universities have the opportunity to witness their 1-9 state government functioning at its dynamic best as they serve as 1-10 interns for members of the legislature and at certain state 1-11 agencies; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Mickey Leland Center on World 1-13 Hunger and Peace at Texas Southern University, the intern program 1-14 fosters academic study and research and offers supervised practical 1-15 training; Senator Rodney Ellis serves as program advisor, and his 1-16 office staff helps to direct on-site activities; and 1-17 WHEREAS, This esteemed young woman has benefited as a 1-18 participant in TLIP, for she has enhanced her knowledge of the 1-19 legislative process and the issues facing citizens of the Lone Star 1-20 State, while also gaining valuable work experience in a political 1-21 environment; and 1-22 WHEREAS, Monica Higgins-Buckhalter has demonstrated 1-23 exceptional commitment and integrity during her tenure in the 1-24 program, and she is indeed deserving of special legislative 2-1 recognition for her contributions to the state; now, therefore, be 2-2 it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-4 Legislature hereby commend Monica Higgins-Buckhalter for her 2-5 service as a legislative intern with Representative Scott Hochberg 2-6 and extend to her best wishes for continued success and happiness 2-7 in all her future endeavors; and, be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-9 prepared for Monica Higgins-Buckhalter as an expression of high 2-10 regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
