R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The Robinson High School Rockettes softball team
1-2 defeated the Graham High School Lady Blues 3-0 to earn the 1999 UIL
1-3 Class 3A state championship, and this outstanding achievement is
1-4 truly deserving of special recognition; and
1-5 WHEREAS, Head coach Shelley Eubanks and assistant coach Robin
1-6 Brady skillfully guided the Rockettes to a stellar 23-4 record,
1-7 which included an impressive 18 shutouts, en route to their first
1-8 state title; and
1-9 WHEREAS, The championship game featured spectacular defensive
1-10 plays from a host of Rockettes while pitcher Melissa Roach
1-11 dominated opposing batters, tossing a three-hitter; offensively
1-12 they were sparked by Carmen Chavez, who was two for four and scored
1-13 the first run, Kelli Miller and Leska Lewallen, who each notched a
1-14 run batted in, and Jacquilyn Kingery, who stroked a triple and
1-15 scored the game's final run; and
1-16 WHEREAS, This monumental win would not have been possible
1-17 without the contributions of all the talented team members,
1-18 including Jacquilyn Kingery, Jennifer Epps, Andrea Kingery, Valarie
1-19 Perry, Carmen Chavez, Leska Lewallen, Kelli Miller, Melissa Roach,
1-20 Marilee Phillips, Lindsey Bagby, Amy Henson, Dana Lauderdale, and
1-21 Lisa Hendrix; and
1-22 WHEREAS, The young champions of the Robinson High School
1-23 Rockettes softball team have distinguished themselves as formidable
1-24 competitors, and as they take pride in their state championship, it
2-1 is indeed fitting to pay tribute to them for their significant
2-2 accomplishment; now, therefore, be it
2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
2-4 Legislature hereby congratulate the team members of the Robinson
2-5 High School Rockettes for winning the UIL Class 3A state softball
2-6 championship and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued
2-7 success and happiness; and, be it further
2-8 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-9 prepared for the Robinson High School Rockettes as an expression of
2-10 high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
