                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Fred Loya of El Paso has been appointed chairperson
 1-2     of the International Committee of the YMCA of the USA, and in light
 1-3     of this outstanding achievement, he is most worthy of special
 1-4     recognition; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Selected by the chairman of the National Board of
 1-6     the YMCA of the USA, Mr. Loya was chosen for his outstanding
 1-7     leadership and commitment to the YMCA and he is the first El Pasoan
 1-8     and the first Hispanic to be appointed to this prestigious
 1-9     position; and
1-10           WHEREAS, The International Committee of the YMCA of the USA
1-11     represents 966 corporate American YMCAs; the committee meets with
1-12     130 YMCA organizations from around the globe to allocate funding
1-13     for projects such as vocational training, reproductive health
1-14     education, and community development; and
1-15           WHEREAS, Fred Loya has distinguished himself as a leader of
1-16     ability and integrity, and his recent appointment to lead the
1-17     committee that represents the YMCA worldwide is indeed
1-18     well-deserved; now, therefore, be it
1-19           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-20     Legislature hereby congratulate Fred Loya for being named the
1-21     chairperson of the International Committee of the YMCA of the USA
1-22     and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and
1-23     happiness; and, be it further
1-24           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-1     prepared for Mr. Loya as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 2-2     House of Representatives.
