                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Max and Anne Von Roeder of Snyder, Texas, have long
 1-2     been outstanding community leaders, and their many notable
 1-3     achievements indeed merit special commendation; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, A Snyder native, Mr. Von Roeder was raised on a
 1-5     cotton farm in Borden County and went on to earn a degree in
 1-6     agronomy from Texas Tech University in 1954; after serving as a
 1-7     captain in the United States Air Force, he returned to Snyder in
 1-8     1957 and joined the family business, Von Roeder Seed Farms, a
 1-9     highly successful company that he  now serves as president; and
1-10           WHEREAS, Selected for "People of Excellence" recognition by
1-11     Texas Tech University in 1995, Mr. Von Roeder has devoted his time
1-12     and expertise to the  Snyder National Bank, Snyder Jaycees, Scurry
1-13     County Fair Association, Snyder Independent School District, and
1-14     Snyder Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Board of County
1-15     Development and the American Cottonseed Delinters Association; and
1-16           WHEREAS, He has been a member of the Snyder Lions Club since
1-17     1975, holding the positions of president, district zone chairman,
1-18     deputy district governor, lieutenant governor, and district
1-19     governor; a noted public speaker with a keen wit, Mr. Von Roeder
1-20     has also been active with the Mesquite Country Walk to Emmaus, is a
1-21     valued member of Trinity United Methodist Church, and is renowned
1-22     for his "Human Puppet Show" performances; and
1-23           WHEREAS, Born in Dunn, Texas, Mrs. Von Roeder also attended
1-24     Texas Tech University and in 1956 received a home economics degree
 2-1     from Southwest Texas State Teacher's College in San Marcos; in
 2-2     addition to being a founder and board member of the Christian
 2-3     Women's Club of Snyder, she has been involved with such noteworthy
 2-4     organizations as the Rainbow School Day Care, Atheneum Study Club,
 2-5     and Snyder Beautification Committee; and
 2-6           WHEREAS, Affectionately known as "Fluffy," this kindhearted
 2-7     woman is also extremely active with Trinity United Methodist
 2-8     Church, where she teaches Sunday school and has served on the
 2-9     board and as education chairman; and
2-10           WHEREAS, High school sweethearts, Mr. and Mrs. von Roeder
2-11     were married on December 23, 1953, and their lengthy union has been
2-12     blessed with three children, Lisa, Nolan, and Jeana, and a number
2-13     of beloved grandchildren; and
2-14           WHEREAS, Max and Anne Von Roeder have distinguished
2-15     themselves as vital and valued members of their community, and it
2-16     is most appropriate that they be commended for their many
2-17     accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
2-18           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
2-19     Legislature hereby honor Max and Anne Von Roeder for their
2-20     significant civic contributions and extend to them sincere best
2-21     wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
2-22           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-23     prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Von Roeder as an expression of high
2-24     regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
