                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The passing of Claude David Arnold, Sr., on April
 1-2     13, 1999, at the age of 86, brought a great loss to the many
 1-3     friends and relatives of this beloved Alpine resident; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Born January 21, 1913, in Big Spring, he graduated
 1-5     from pharmacy college in Wyoming and later purchased the Corner
 1-6     Drug Store in Iraan, successfully operating that establishment
 1-7     until he relocated with his wife to Alpine in 1961; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, Mr. Arnold continued his career in the pharmacy
 1-9     business by founding The Prescription Shop in Alpine, which he
1-10     continued to run until his retirement in 1979; and
1-11           WHEREAS, United in marriage with the former Dorothy Bone
1-12     Scott in 1952, he shared with her an enduring relationship that
1-13     deepened with love and respect each passing year; and
1-14           WHEREAS, Mr. Arnold was active in a number of worthy
1-15     organizations, including the Lions Club, Kiwanis Club, and the
1-16     National Pharmacy Association, and he was also an avid pilot,
1-17     hunter, and fisherman; and
1-18           WHEREAS, Those who were privileged to share the friendship of
1-19     Mr. Arnold will long miss his presence, and he will surely be
1-20     remembered with great admiration and affection for many years to
1-21     come; now, therefore, be it
1-22           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-23     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Claude David Arnold,
1-24     Sr., and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to
 2-1     his wife, Dorothy Arnold; to his children, Claude David Arnold,
 2-2     Jr., Joe S. Scott, Melanie Brownfield, and Mary Lisa Bynum; to his
 2-3     sister, Nettie Creighton; and to his grandchildren and
 2-4     step-great-grandchildren; and, be it further
 2-5           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-6     prepared for the members of his family, and that when the Texas
 2-7     House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
 2-8     Claude David Arnold, Sr.
