R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor 1-2 Thomas Earl Winters of Mills County for his outstanding commitment 1-3 to his fellow citizens; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Born on May 17, 1934, on a ranch near Evant in 1-5 Hamilton County, Mr. Winters graduated from high school in 1951 and 1-6 went on to attend Texas A&M University, where he pursued an 1-7 education in agriculture; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Mr. Winters represents the fourth generation of his 1-9 family to have a career in ranching; together with his father and 1-10 brother, he has driven cattle from Texas to Kansas, Colorado, and 1-11 New Mexico, and the trio has also traded livestock in Mexico and 1-12 the United States; and 1-13 WHEREAS, He purchased the C Ranch near Goldthwaite in 1958 1-14 and continues to live there today with his wife, the former Wynona 1-15 Joan Barnett; married since 1955, the couple have three children, 1-16 Thomas Joe, Molly Earl, and Maggy Katherine, and three beloved 1-17 grandchildren, Thomas Marshall Winters, Thomas Randolph Jones, and 1-18 Marla Katherine Jones; and 1-19 WHEREAS, In partnership with his father, Mr. Winters 1-20 purchased the Lampasas Livestock Auction in 1959 and they operated 1-21 that business, with many other Central Texas auctions, until 1975; 1-22 after purchasing the Miller Beer Distributing Company in Dallas in 1-23 1975, Mr. Winters and his brother-in-law operated the business as 1-24 partners for four years; and 2-1 WHEREAS, Mr. Winters continues to devote his time and energy 2-2 to ranching and livestock interests, in addition to several retail 2-3 establishments he owns, and he is also a longtime booster of many 2-4 community and civic organizations; and 2-5 WHEREAS, Throughout his life, Thomas Earl Winters has aspired 2-6 to the highest level of excellence in all his endeavors, and he is 2-7 truly deserving of recognition at this time; now, therefore, be it 2-8 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-9 Legislature hereby commend Thomas Earl Winters for his achievements 2-10 and his commitment to the betterment of his community and state and 2-11 extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and 2-12 happiness; and, be it further 2-13 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-14 prepared for Mr. Winters as an expression of high regard by the 2-15 Texas House of Representatives.
