                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The recent passing of Adele D. Lucas of Cuero on
 1-2     March 24, 1999, at the age of 80, has brought a great loss to the
 1-3     family and many friends of this esteemed woman; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Mrs. Lucas was born on December 12, 1918, in
 1-5     Gonzales County; a former teacher and bookkeeper, she was also a
 1-6     rancher and deeply appreciated the heritage and history of South
 1-7     Texas, as evidenced by her status and contributions as a charter
 1-8     member of the DeWitt County Historical Museum; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, She was also active with her parish at Grace
1-10     Episcopal Church, contributing her considerable energy and ability
1-11     to the Altar Guild and Women of the Church; and
1-12           WHEREAS, Mrs. Lucas's many varied interests and caring nature
1-13     benefited a number of organizations, including Tri Delta Sorority,
1-14     the Cuero Community Hospital Auxiliary, the State Medical Board,
1-15     and the DeWitt County Wildflower Association; and
1-16           WHEREAS, Her innumerable contributions to the Republican
1-17     Party of Texas were also of noteworthy significance; Mrs. Lucas was
1-18     a powerful force with Republican women's groups in Cuero and
1-19     surrounding communities for many years, and her involvement
1-20     included valued help with campaigns and faithful advice from a
1-21     lifelong Texas resident; and
1-22           WHEREAS, She and her husband, Charles, were blessed with the
1-23     love of two children, Katherine Reilly and Charles Robert "Bob"
1-24     Lucas, and the family's years together were truly rewarding, filled
 2-1     with much love and many fond memories; though Mrs. Lucas will be
 2-2     deeply missed, her spirit will surely live on in the hearts and
 2-3     memories of the many people whose lives she touched; now,
 2-4     therefore, be it
 2-5           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
 2-6     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Adele D. Lucas and
 2-7     extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her
 2-8     husband, Charles L. Lucas; to her daughter, Katherine Reilly; to
 2-9     her son, Charles Robert "Bob" Lucas; to her sister, Jenebel
2-10     McCollum; and to her grandchild; and, be it further
2-11           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-12     prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas
2-13     House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
2-14     Adele D. Lucas.
