R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, July 9-11, 1999, will be an exciting and fun-filled 1-2 time for the members of the Crockett Colored High/Ralph J. Bunche 1-3 High School Alumni, Ex-Students, and Teachers Association, for they 1-4 will celebrate a reunion in Houston on those dates; and 1-5 WHEREAS, In 1952, Crockett Colored High School became Ralph 1-6 J. Bunche High School, and 13 years later in 1965 that previously 1-7 segregated school merged with Crockett High School as part of the 1-8 federal government's school integration initiative; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Most of the association's membership is composed of 1-10 preintegration-era students, and many of those individuals have 1-11 remained in the Lone Star State; association chapters exist in 1-12 Houston, Dallas, and several other Texas cities, and some 500 1-13 members are expected to attend this year's reunion; and 1-14 WHEREAS, The bond that exists among the alumni, ex-students, 1-15 and teachers of this exceptional group is indeed a special one, and 1-16 their continued commitment to maintaining their close association 1-17 is truly inspirational; now, therefore, be it 1-18 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 1-19 Legislature hereby recognize the members of the Crockett Colored 1-20 High/Ralph J. Bunche High School Alumni, Ex-Students, and Teachers 1-21 Association and extend to them best wishes for a successful and 1-22 memorable reunion; and, be it further 1-23 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 1-24 prepared for the association's members to commemorate this event 2-1 and as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of 2-2 Representatives.
