R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives takes great pride 1-2 in honoring the promising young members of the Beaumont Branch 1-3 NAACP Youth Council, for their interest in state government and 1-4 determination to succeed indeed merit special legislative 1-5 recognition; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Each year, the Beaumont group dedicates itself to a 1-7 variety of community service projects, from voter registration 1-8 drives and yard projects for the elderly to the March of Dimes 1-9 "Walk America" campaign and the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., 1-10 parade and rally; and 1-11 WHEREAS, The youth council meets on the first Saturday of 1-12 every month under the guidance of their advisor, Samuel Bean, 1-13 Beaumont Branch NAACP president; each year, the local NAACP makes 1-14 certain that these hard-working and responsible youths will take a 1-15 trip that will serve both educational and recreational purposes; 1-16 and 1-17 WHEREAS, These trips are something the student members can 1-18 share with friends and family back home, relating the exciting 1-19 details to classmates when school resumes next year; most 1-20 importantly, the trips represent a vital learning experience for 1-21 these future leaders of our state and a meaningful opportunity by 1-22 which they can develop a greater understanding of the history and 1-23 culture Texas has to offer; and 1-24 WHEREAS, A trip to the Capitol is something that will live 2-1 forever in the memories of these remarkable young people, and it is 2-2 a great pleasure to recognize them at this time; now, therefore, be 2-3 it 2-4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-5 Legislature hereby welcome to the State Capitol in Austin the 2-6 members and advisors of the Beaumont Branch NAACP Youth Council and 2-7 extend to them best wishes for an enjoyable and educational 2-8 journey; and, be it further 2-9 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-10 prepared for the members of the youth council as a remembrance of 2-11 this grand occasion and as an expression of high regard by the 2-12 Texas House of Representatives.
