R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, In the waning days of the 76th legislative session, 1-2 it is an opportune time to commend Chief Clerk/Assistant 1-3 Parliamentarian Sharon Carter, or "Slash," for she has once again 1-4 played more roles this session than some of Hollywood's leading 1-5 ladies; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Now in her sixth session as assistant 1-7 parliamentarian, the "Ice Lady" as she was dubbed by a former 1-8 member, remains calm, cool, and collected during even the most 1-9 intense deliberations, and her knowledge of the rules and 1-10 parliamentary matters has dovetailed quite nicely with her outside 1-11 interest as an avid hunter, though vultures have yet to be seen 1-12 circling above the podium; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Ms. Carter's adept service as parliamentarian during 1-14 each Local and Consent Calendar has certainly made quite an 1-15 impression on the speaker pro tempore, for throughout the numerous 1-16 actions that occur at the podium, she remains a reliable source of 1-17 vital information regarding each of the bills being heard; and 1-18 WHEREAS, In addition to her parliamentary duties, this 1-19 dedicated officer of the house is in her second term as chief 1-20 clerk, and she successfully takes on each new challenge like a duck 1-21 to water, though that's where the similarity ends as she could 1-22 never be considered wet behind the ears; now, therefore, be it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 1-24 Legislature hereby honor Sharon Carter for her exemplary service 2-1 this session and extend to her our heartfelt appreciation for a job 2-2 well done; and, be it further 2-3 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-4 prepared for Ms. Carter as an expression of high regard and 2-5 good-natured ribbing by the Texas House of Representatives.
