No. 1366 76R17503 WMS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The successful operation of the Texas House of 1-2 Representatives during the 76th legislative session has been 1-3 greatly enhanced by the dedicated efforts of the staff of the Chief 1-4 Clerk's Office; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Holding the office of chief clerk of the house is 1-6 Sharon Carter, whose post is essential to the orderly and efficient 1-7 functioning of the house; the chief clerk's responsibilities touch 1-8 nearly every aspect of the legislative process, and Ms. Carter has 1-9 performed each of her many demanding duties with the utmost 1-10 efficiency and professionalism, while expertly managing a large 1-11 staff that comprises the Journal Clerk's Office, the Committee 1-12 Services Division, the Office of House Bill Analysis, and the 1-13 sergeant-at-arms; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Under the direction of journal clerk Elena Castaldi, 1-15 the Journal Clerk's Office has painstakingly prepared, published, 1-16 and maintained the official journals of house proceedings and has 1-17 made this important record of legislative history available on a 1-18 daily basis; and 1-19 WHEREAS, The Committee Services Division, directed by manager 1-20 John W. Webb, has contributed support to all house standing 1-21 committees throughout the session, and it also supports the 1-22 operations of select and interim committees and serves as the 1-23 official repository for committee records year-round; and 1-24 WHEREAS, Sergeant-at-arms Rod Welsh and his staff have 2-1 consistently maintained order in the house chamber and meeting 2-2 rooms and have assisted all officers of the house in carrying out 2-3 their administrative duties; and 2-4 WHEREAS, The latest addition to the Chief Clerk's Office has 2-5 been the Office of House Bill Analysis; manager Marco Martinez and 2-6 his staff have analyzed every introduced house bill and joint 2-7 resolution and all engrossed senate bills and joint resolutions, 2-8 and they have more than proven their merit in their first 2-9 legislative session; and 2-10 WHEREAS, The conscientious efforts of Ms. Carter and each 2-11 member of her fine staff have ably supported the members of this 2-12 chamber throughout this regular session, and their service is 2-13 greatly appreciated; now, therefore, be it 2-14 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-15 Legislature hereby commend the exemplary staff of the Chief Clerk's 2-16 Office and extend to them best wishes for the future; and, be it 2-17 further 2-18 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-19 prepared for the staff of the Chief Clerk's Office as an expression 2-20 of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
