No. 1369 76R18207 JBR-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of former McKinney mayor Al Ruschhaupt 1-2 on January 12, 1999, brought a great loss to the family, friends, 1-3 and community of this esteemed civic leader; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Mr. Ruschhaupt honorably served his country as a 1-5 member of the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1946, and in 1947 he 1-6 and his new wife, Gerri Ruschhaupt, moved to McKinney, where they 1-7 established McKinney Office Supply; and 1-8 WHEREAS, This public-spirited gentleman served two terms as 1-9 McKinney mayor from 1973 to 1979, and he was president of the North 1-10 Texas Council of Governments, in which capacity he worked hard to 1-11 meet the needs of citizens in 14 counties, and he also played a 1-12 significant role in securing a municipal airport for the area; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Mr. Ruschhaupt was a member of the board of 1-14 directors of the Wysong Hospital Corporation, and an active member 1-15 of the McKinney Rotary Club and the First United Methodist Church 1-16 of McKinney; his selfless dedication, professionalism, and 1-17 integrity were greatly appreciated by the citizens of McKinney, and 1-18 his contributions helped to mold the community into a great place 1-19 in which to live, work, and raise a family; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Those who were privileged to know Al Ruschhaupt will 1-21 long miss his presence, and he will surely be remembered with great 1-22 affection and admiration for many years to come through the lasting 1-23 legacy of achievement he leaves behind; now, therefore, be it 1-24 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-1 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Al Ruschhaupt and 2-2 extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family and to the 2-3 many friends and relatives of this fine man; and, be it further 2-4 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-5 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-6 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-7 Al Ruschhaupt.
